Major PurposeThe Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machinist will report to the machining supervisor and is responsible for programming and operating CNC Machining / Turning Centres. The CNC Machinist ensures that all machined parts within the range of products are completed to a high standard of workmanship, conforming to established specifications while maintaining safe work practices.
Responsibilities - Plan machining by examining and interpreting engineering drawings
- Program machines by entering instructions and calculating requirements as required
- Complete documentation including Quality Assurance data sheets, time scanned to production traveller and end-of-shift changeover sheets
- Ensure that machining equipment is maintained and operational
- Participation and adhere to site Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Policies and Procedures at all times.
Role Requirements - Certificate III in Engineering (Machining) or similar trade qualification
- Exceptional precision machining skills coupled with a strong appreciation of the importance of quality in a low-volume, high-value environment
- Demonstrated organisation and time management skills
- Ability to approach situations with a positive, ‘can-do’ attitude
- Effective written and spoken communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-based environment
- Current QLD 'C' Class Open Drivers licence
- Physically capable of extended standing periods
Desirable - Good mechanical aptitude
- Basic IT competency, including the use of Microsoft Office
- Proficiency in the use of 3D modelling software, ideally SolidWorks / SolidCAM
- Strong interpersonal skills such as the ability to take direction, take on feedback positively.
- Current ‘MR’ Class Driver’s Licence
- Current Forklift Licence
- Current Overhead Crane Licence
