OVERVIEW In addition to the technical requirements to follow, the successful candidate will have adopted an innate behavioural approach to safety, which will be attested to by referees that can also account for cultural influence and strength to lead a business-critical function.
With a focus to enhance and ingrain the Health, Safety + Environment function, whilst facilitating ownership of all facets, the key objective will be to partner effectively across the business to build capability and participation at all levels. In addition, you will be responsible for driving management systems, influence ongoing cultural engagement and strategy design.
Ideally demonstrating a background in agriculture/manufacturing/heavy industry, and evidenced capacity and capability to influence across multiple sites, you will thrive on the hands-on nature of what you do and the platform to mentor and coach employees.
SCOPE Responsible for managing the Health and Safety remit, an industry professional will drive and apply continuous improvement to the overall H+S culture as a whole. Reporting directly to the COO, a snapshot in the life of might look like:
- Identification of training needs across the group;
- Provision of expert advice to support solid governance;
- Authoring + managing the implementation of all H+S policies, procedures + supporting documentation such as SOPs + SWMS;
- Leading Safety, System, Site and Regulator audits;
- Supporting the design and implementation of a strong safety culture + related activities across all locations and layers;
- Supporting all individuals to meet their obligations under relevant legislation, via coaching, training, reporting and assurance activities;
- Proactive management of the Return to Work + Work Cover facets;
- Direction and oversight on all H+S matters to management including, compliance, incident response and investigation, emergency preparedness, training, licensing, inspections and other assurance activities;
- Other duties include but are no means limited to; site toolboxes, committee programs, investigations, reporting, register maintenance, risk identification, safety plans, data capture for ongoing improvement and RTW across multiple sites.
SUCCESS PROFILE Essential: - 5 years’+ as a site based senior Health + Safety specialist (preferably within manufacturing or related vertical);
- Tertiary qualification/s in Health + Safety (or related discipline);
- Ability to regularly travel to various sites across Queensland + New South Wales.
Desired: - Previous experience in the agricultural industry (advantageous);
- Exposure to ISO standards and compliance;
- Auditor Qualification;
- ICAM Certification;
- Drug + Alcohol Testing Certification;
- Workplace Rehabilitation Coordinator Accreditation;
- Environmental exposure.
