The Client

Our client is an incredibly well established international forwarder covering cargo of all kind, including perishables. With a full in-house customs clearance team, on site 3PL warehousing facility and a team of operators up for the challenge of some of their more intricate clients movements all over the globe. Open plan double story office with onsite parking and walking distance to Cafes and easy access for those looking for work in the busy Tullamarine hub.


The Role

An opportunity has arisen for a suitably experienced individual to join their Melbourne team and take responsibility of the Export Sea Freight department. You will lead a team of 3, in a hands-on position managing all ocean freight exports from negotiating rates with carriers through to ensuring KPIs are met and service levels maintained. All new bookings departing Melbourne to all parts of the globe and up to 20 complex jobs a week to delegate and coordinate yourself.


Duties & Responsibilities

• Creating new bookings for all export sea freight cargo
• Liaising with internal teams, suppliers, overseas agents and local clients 
• Delegating and escalation point to your operations team
• End of month P&L reporting to Site Manager
• Liaising with local transport and warehouse operations
• Collating all necessary documentation and certificates 

Skills & Experience

• Recent export ocean freight experience gained within an international forwarding environment
• Staff management experience, advantageous
• Working knowledge of the Cargowise 1 operating system 
• The confidence to liaise with clients and service providers 
• The motivation to further grow the export division
• Perishables exposure, desirable
