Summary

Manage, oversee and monitor all aspects of the operations department including, but not limited to:

• Air and Ocean Imports/Exports shipments, customs brokerage, logistics, warehouse, transport, supplier services and all related activities and services
• Lead and implement a culture of customer service excellence within the operations department
• As part of Senior Management team proactively contribute to the ongoing growth, profitability, and sustainability

Primary Responsibilities

• Manage daily operations and lead the warehouse team.
• Supervise, coach, and monitor operations staff and activities.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Assist in developing and implementing department policies and procedures.
• Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and third parties.
• Oversee specialised shipments, including break-bulk cargo, exhibitions, and projects.
• Ensure shipments are co-ordinated for pick up/delivery

Additional Responsibilities

• Back-up for collection of payments (if required by the accounts department)
• Provide customers with quotations for their transportation requirements
• Liaise with shipping lines, overseas agents, and other service providers to obtain rates and services

Knowledge and Skill Requirements 

• Over 6 years local experience gained from a similar position in freight forwarding (including import and export across various modes, i.e. sea freight, airfreight, domestic transport, warehousing and customer service)
• Exceptional leader with proven experience leading a high performing team.
• Full understanding of end to end freight process
• Operator’s knowledge of systems (e.g. Cargowise) and industry
• Diligent with strong attention to detail
